Patricia Anders, the Manager of the Health Emergency Preparedness Exercises Program for the Office of Health Emergency Preparedness at the New York State Department of Health gave this presentation in September of 2014 summarizing the similarities between SARS/H1N1 and the more recent MERS-CoV and H7N9 concerns. This presentation applies the lessons learned and best practices discovered during the SARS and H1N1 events to these two more recent infectious disease threats, emphasizing the need for informed and evidence-based approaches to surveillance, vaccine development, and biosecurity measures.
