
Summary
The Project BioShield Act of 2004 (P.L. 108-276), also referred to as “Project BioShield” or “the Act,” was enacted on July 21, 2004. The Act is a critical part of a broader strategy to defend America against weapons of mass destruction. It provides the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) with new authorities to speed the research, development, acquisition and use of priority medical countermeasures against chemical, biological, nuclear, and radiological (CBRN) threats.
