This year’s 2014 Statewide Medical and Health Exercise marks the first of a three-year series of California Statewide Exercises, designed to build exponentially upon our medical and public health community-based capability and capacity for disaster-related healthcare response.
The vision for our California statewide exercise partners collaborating during the 2014-2016 exercise series, is based on using an objectives-driven focus for each year’s exercise. Planning efforts will build sequentially to provide assistive materials, and to promote options for customization of the exercise and activities amongst local area response partners.
Exercise partners will work across organization/agency disciplines to leverage commonalities in their jurisdictional/operational areas’ response related to a wide scale, or specialty need for the provision or support of healthcare services under disaster occurrence. Response partners may have differing goals and needs related to participation in the Statewide Medical and Health Exercise series. Partners agree to work towards consensus to identify exercise objectives and define activities which best support community efforts to build upon the area-wide disaster-related healthcare response.
The purpose of this year’s 2014 Statewide Medical and Health Exercise is to provide participants with an opportunity to evaluate current response concepts, plans, and capabilities based upon related objectives and an emerging infectious disease scenario.
The scenarios for the 2015-17 Statewide Medical and Health Exercises are as follows:
- 2015: Pandemic Influenza
- 2015: SoCalREADI Aerosolized Anthrax
- 2016: Mass Casualty Incident
- 2017: To Be Determined
